FAQs

Can an alias point to multiple mailboxes?
Yes, just add the alias address multiple times. The message will be delivered to all mailboxes.

Can I do a ‘catch all’ alias to receive all email for a domain to one mailbox?
Yes, just add *@domainname as an alias. We would generally recommend avoiding this if at all possible to avoid getting lots of spam!

Can I point my customer’s domains at your server?
Yes, re-branding is available subject to a set-up fee. Please contact your account manager for more details.

Do you do DNS registration?
No. Adding a domain to an account just allows us to route mail correctly, it does not register the domain or control where MX records point. Control of this remains with you.

How does anti-spam work? Which is the best setting to use?
Our anti-spam filters run a large number of tests on each email to check both content and it’s delivery path. This results in a ‘score’ determining the likelihood of the message being spam. You (or the end user) can set a threshold for each mailbox. If the score exceeds the threshold, the message is deemed spam and put in the quarantine folder.

What happens when a virus is found in an email?
We will notify the end user by email, but not the sender as these are often forged.

Does Email Forwarding filter forwarded mail for spam and viruses?
No, only SMTP forwarding does this.

What happens when an account goes over quota?
You will be notified by email that the end user has exceeded quota. We recommend you temporarily increase the quota for their account to ensure continued service. Please note that you can configure alerts via the Control Panel.

Can I whitelist/blacklist a domain?
Yes, just add *@domainname to the appropriate list.
