Server Details
Server Names
As we are a ‘white label’ solution, you will want to use your own server names. Fortunately, we’ve been able to make this very simple by allocating a dedicated IP address for your use. That one IP, through the magic of our proxying systems, will allow you and your customers to access webmail, Control Panel, POP3, IMAP and SMTP. Additionally for our Silver and Gold Partners, we can provide SSL access to all these services if you provide us with a certificate. Alternatively for SSL access, you can use our generic mail.overssl.net address.
So, assuming your domain is greatmail.com, we would recommend simply setting up mail.greatmail.com and pointing this at your dedicated IP address. Additional names you may want to set up are (note – only applies to MailCore Pro):
cal.greatmail.com – for caldav access
dav.greatmail.com – for webdav access
Inbound Mail Servers
These servers provide inbound SMTP services for your domains. You will need to point the domain’s MX records to these servers. Unfortunately, the MX system does not readily support CNAME-style aliasing, so you must delegate the DNS lookup to us – see below. This is preferable as if we need to change the IP address in the future, it reduces the risk of service interruption.
Standard Settings (Recommended):
Please point your MX records to: 10 a.mx.verygoodemail.com. and 20 b.mx.verygoodemail.com.
Note: Some DNS control panels may not require the trailing dots, illustrated above, at the end of the address.
Advanced Settings: Delegating DNS To The Very Good Email Company
Where domain delegation is supported. If you don’t know what this means – then you won’t need it for now! In order to do this, please set up your DNS like so (using an example of greatmail.com):
mx.greatmail.com IN NS dns0.apm-internet.net
mx.greatmail.com IN NS dns1.apm-internet.net
You must inform us that you have done this as we will need to make changes on our DNS servers to ensure this works.
SPF Records
Please use the following SPF if sending through us: v=spf1 ip4:85.119.248.0/22 ~all
SSL Certificates
If you wish to use SSL, please provide us with a certificate for either mail.greatmail.com, or preferably a wildcard certificate for greatmail.com, which will then cover cal. and dav. as well. Please email the cert, ca-bundle and private key to provisioning@verygoodemail.com so we can set things up.
