Upgrade to Zimbra001

On Wednesday evening we will be upgrading our Zimbra 001 server to the latest release of version 5, with a view to upgrading to version 6 in the very near future.

In order to minimise any disruption this work will take place from midnight and will take approximately half an hour.

This will incur a short amount of downtime when you will not be able to access your mailbox. However, no emails will be delayed at this time as our unique infrastructure allows us to queue up messages for delivery when the system comes back online.

You shouldn’t need to upgrade to a later version of Zimbra Connector, however the latest version of the Connector is available from our support pages should you need it.

No action is required on your part.

This is a reminder that, following our announcement a couple of weeks ago, our two Zimbra servers will need to be moved to a new site, starting at midnight tonight. During this time, the servers will be down for up to 3 hours. Any inbound mail during this time will be queued on our other servers and forwarded on to the Zimbra servers as soon as they’re back up and running. The Zimbra servers will change IP address, but will remain within the 85.119.248 range. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.

We’ve been delighted by the response so far to the changes and enhancements to our Partner Programme and are aware that a number of online referrals have already occurred via the Partner Directory.

From feedback we’ve received we are refining the Partner Listing to define those Partners that are able to sell individual Very Good Email Company services, and those that will only bundle along with other services.

We will be contacting all listed resellers over the next week, or so, to confirm how they wish to be listed.

We are currently putting together a couple of Partner Training dates for the second half of April – more details to follow shortly.

Don’t forget – MessageBunker, Gateway and Mailcore services are now only available through our Partners.

“After several years working with various providers and numerous platforms, we have found a flexible, reliable system in the Very Good Email Company model. Our customers now have the ability to not only access their mail from anywhere but also the power to control all aspects of how it is delivered. As a hosting company with over 10 years experience in running, maintaining and handling customer websites and their associated email I would recommend The Very Good Email Company to anyone that takes email delivery seriously.”

Just reading an interesting piece over on ISP Review entitled Marketers Complain Legitimate Email Blocked as SPAM by UK ISPs

It’s not the argument of what constitutes Spam – we’re all different – but I did find myself agreeing strongly with one of their conclusions: “we do encourage any ISP that deploys anti-spam filtering to give its customers some degree of control over which addresses it applies to; even if that is merely in the form of a basic “on” and “off” switch.”

We’d strongly agree with that sentiment – and being able to select the level of filtering (from ‘Low’ to ‘Extreme’) has always been a core feature of our filtering platform here at The Very Good Email Company, along with the ability to view and restore any removed mail from the customers’ Spam folder.
